Mark’s leadership qualities ensured that RBS, as they progressed through the late 1990s, had a highly-skilled and very effective nationwide presence in the Private Banking market. It was these qualities that resulted in him being asked to lead the Private Banking business for RBS Group, through the takeover of NatWest.
In the years that followed 2001, he oversaw the incorporation of the brands of NatWest, Drummonds and Child & Co as part of the RBSG Private Banking proposition. He believes that his achievements are a consequence of ‘simplicity of thought’ and the importance of ‘relationships in business’ in all that he strives to achieve. As a result, he specialises with ABSTRACT in leadership, performance management, strategic change, conduct risk and the concept of the need for speed to market. His business involvement across diverse industries such as clinical anaesthesia and respiratory equipment manufacturing and stationery distribution globally ensure he continues to build upon his extensive financial services knowledge. He is a Non-Exec Director on company boards based in Northern Ireland and he has studied at Harvard, INSEAD and Dukes Business School. In addition, he is also qualified to Chartered status in Private Client Investment Advice & Wealth Management.
Mark has two daughters, Hannah and Lauren and lives in Northern Ireland, with his wife Neave and their two boys, Tiernan and Fintan. When not working he loves outdoor pursuits and is a keen kite and sea surfer. In addition, he is a crew member for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
