It's time for Leaders to take Inclusive Responsibility!

I constantly see and hear the term ‘Inclusive Leadership’ appearing on agendas and being discussed at meetings as an additional item to the mainstream functions for the leaders and management of many businesses.

Honestly, I think the point may have been wildly missed!

An Ever-Evolving Approach

Firstly, leadership has and will always be a critical ingredient when it comes to running any size of business or organisation.

Therefore, it is vitally important that we continue to develop and evolve our offering in modern times.

For Example:

Outdated Approach

An organisation might put all its leaders through a one-off ‘Inclusive Leadership’ event and believe the job to be done!

New Approach

An organisation might, through continuous learning, regularly teach and update leaders on how to take 'Inclusive Responsibility' as a crucial part of their day-to-day role.

Second, being and acting inclusively as a leader is an integral requisite to carry out everyday duties and drive sustainable results.

Thus, it is consistently demonstrating ‘Inclusive Responsibility’ as a leader that really matters.

Demonstrating Inclusive Responsibility

Three Tips for Leaders:

1. Regularly promote a visible commitment to your inclusive brand identity.

You must consistently be inclusive to think inclusive, and vice-versa.

2. Ensure you deliver equity as a line manager and role model.

Practice fairness and justice for all and consciously adjust imbalances.

3. Be mindful of your leadership performance as a recognised culture carrier.

Take time to reflect, as the more we are aware, the more we can control.

Holding Inclusive Responsibility

So, we should now view all leadership at every level throughout big and small organisations as simply holding Inclusive Responsibility.

Rather than it being an addition or afterthought for most leaders forming part of their learning and development plans.

Failure to accept and regularly connect with inclusive responsibility, denotes you are not a modern-day leader, and your business may one day in the not-too-distant future, run out of the critical human capital required to keep it going.

Our Inclusive Responsibility Programme

Here at ABSTRACT, we have been busy working on simplifying the terminology ‘Inclusive Responsibility’ to demonstrate where the inclusive gaps are within any organisation, by assessing the multi-generations at work and how they could or would likely be impacted in the very near future.

Our 90-minute virtual workshop will cleverly navigate you and your peers through the mythical inclusive maze and leave you with a very clear plan to begin filling in the gaps with extreme ease. This workshop is also available as a half day face-to-face event.
