Collaborating with a shared purpose

Nick Goddard

ABSTRACT is constantly looking for new ways to drive positive change, whether that's helping more women and people from under-represented groups into leadership positions through our award-winning programmes, or collaborating on topical content for more people to hear and take action.

How can we drive change? We collaborate.

In May and beyond, we are set to be involved in a variety of events with organisations that align with our mission statement - 'Improving business through people.' Here are some of our upcoming events that we shall be delivering over the coming weeks and months...

Women in Banking and Finance (WIBF)

WIBF is a non-profit organisation supported by individual membership and the sponsorship of global financial services companies, major banks and firms servicing the industry. With their partnerships, WIBF reach thousands of professionals across the UK and Ireland through a variety of valuable and highly sought after events that address the needs and aspirations of their members and sponsors to develop, showcase and retain female talent and contribution.

Back in 2020, as part of WIBF’s 40th anniversary celebrations, ABSTRACT were delighted to be formally recognised as a ‘Friend of WIBF’, for being a true advocate, supporter and champion their work to bring a gender lens to UK financial services. ABSTRACT’s Anne Clarke and Mark Fryer are delivering a virtual event on the topic of 'Imposter Syndrome - A Wicked Problem To Solve', on Wednesday 25 May 2022. This highly engaging webinar will look at how to understand imposter syndrome, how to interpret it and how to combat it.

Later this year, Anne and Mark will be presenting 'Attracting Sponsors and Mentors in a Hybrid World' for WIBF.

30% Club Ireland

30% Club Ireland are a collaboration of organisations and business leaders who are committed to achieving better gender balance, leading to better business outcomes. ABSTRACT will be supporting a number of events with various sector groups this year.

On 5th May, we are delivering an event in partnership with CWiT Ireland. Connecting Women in Technology (CWiT) is a network of Irish based technology companies who all share a common goal to support the development of women in the technology industry. Founded by Accenture, Dell and Microsoft in 2009, the network today spans over 20 leading multinational technology companies, who all collaborate to attract, promote and encourage women in STEM careers.

Then on 19th May, we will be sharing our insights on 'How To Improve Diversity of Thought and Respect' as part of the BioPharmaChem Ireland Diversity and Inclusion Masterclass Series for 2022. In a second Masterclass, scheduled in September, we will demonstrate How Psychological Safety Creates High Performing Teams. BioPharmaChem is a learning network for companies of all sizes in the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, medical device and chemical supply sectors, who work collaboratively to share best practice and broaden access to skills development opportunities and professional development.

Inclusive Companies

On 22 June, we are collaborating with Inclusive Companies to deliver a virtual event to their members about the impacts of Imposter Syndrome and how to overcome it. Inclusive Companies is a cross industry network harnessing best practices & innovation to drive inclusion for all. ABSTRACT’s Sue Liburd MBE is also a judge for the upcoming 2022 Inclusive Companies Awards that will showcase some of the UK’s most inclusive organisations and business people.

We are proud to be working with all these organisations. Collaborating with them enables us to share our vision with forward-thinking leading companies in the UK, Ireland and globally.  To find out more about ABSTRACT and our learning and development programmes, please get in touch.
