Questions

  • What does ABSTRACT do?

ABSTRACT is a specialist learning and development consultancy for financial services.

We help private banks, wealth managers and financial services firms improve the commercial performance of their people through bespoke programmes built around a deep understanding of your business.

  • Who do you work with?

We work exclusively with financial services organisations - primarily private banks, wealth managers and investment firms.

Our clients include some of the sector's leading names across the UK, Europe, Asia and the US.

  • What is a Learning Needs Analysis and do I need one?

A Learning Needs Analysis is how we make sure we're solving the right problem.

Before we design anything, we spend time inside your organisation talking with your people, running focus groups and observing what's actually happening.

Most clients tell us they learn something new about their own business in the process.

If you're serious about a programme that actually changes behaviour rather than just ticking a box, you need one.

  • How long does a Learning Needs Analysis take?

It depends on the size and complexity of your organisation, but typically two to four weeks from initial conversations to final report.

We work around your people's schedules and make the process as straightforward as possible.

  • What topics do your programmes cover?

Our core programme areas are commercial skills and business development, high performing teams, and decision making and leadership.

All programmes are built around the specific needs identified in your LNA so while the topics are consistent, what we design for you won't look like what we designed for someone else.

  • How do you deliver - in person, virtual or both?

Both. We deliver face-to-face programmes across the UK and internationally, as well as virtual sessions and blended programmes that combine the two.

We'll recommend the right format based on your objectives, your people and your organisation's geography.

  • How long are your programmes?

It varies depending on what you need.

Individual modules are typically full-day face-to-face sessions, supported by virtual follow-up sessions to embed learning.

Larger programmes run across several months with regular structured evaluation points to measure behavioural change.

  • Can programmes be delivered internationally and in other languages?

Our global facilitator network means we can deliver programmes across multiple regions and languages.

We're experienced at making content work across different cultural and geographic contexts.

  • How do you measure the impact of your programmes?

We measure behavioural change, not just delegate satisfaction.

Our evaluation process tracks impact at regular key points after delivery, so you can see what's actually different in how your people work, not just what they thought on the day.

  • Can we speak to existing clients as references?

Yes. We have strong, long-term relationships with our clients and are happy to facilitate introductions where appropriate.

Get in touch and we can discuss what would be most useful for you.

  • What does working with ABSTRACT actually involve?

A genuine commitment to change. We're not a passive provider, we design programmes that ask real things of your people and your leadership team, and that only works if your organisation is ready to invest properly in the process.

Before we begin any programme we'll have honest conversations about your objectives, your culture and your appetite for change. If we're the right fit, we'll know. And if we're not, we'll tell you that too.

The clients who get the most from working with ABSTRACT are the ones who treat it as a partnership, not a purchase.

  • Is there anything ABSTRACT doesn't do?

Yes. We don't deliver technical training or compliance and risk programmes.

Our sweet spot is the human side of commercial performance: helping financial services professionals develop the skills, confidence and behaviours that turn technical expertise into commercial results.

That means commercial skills and business development, sales and performance improvement and emotional intelligence - and the cultural foundations that make all of it stick
