The benefits of online learning during Covid-19 and beyond

Over the past few months Covid-19 has created challenges that every business throughout the country – and world – has contended with.

That has been no different for ABSTRACT, and one of the key things we have done in response to the ongoing pandemic is accelerate our move towards providing digital content to complement our face-to-face offering.

The new digital normal

We initially found our client’s demand for digital content was ‘of the moment’. Businesses were addressing an immediate need to provide their people with the tools and inspiration to adapt, survive and thrive during the sudden adjustment that lockdown brought.

However, we are already observing a clear shift in the way clients are approaching corporate learning. We believe our industry may never revert to exactly the way it was. To that end we have looked at how we can meet those changes with progressive, innovative and engaging online learning solutions.

Evolving our approach

Despite the challenges Covid-19 presented, we have embraced the exciting opportunity to adapt our existing award-winning learning and development programmes for virtual delivery. This has allowed us to develop new content, including building a series of webinars on several key topics:

• How to Build Superior Confidence?
• How to Develop Modern Day Resilience?
• How to Communicate More Effectively?
• How to Activate Realisation & Self Determination?
• How to Form Sound Judgement & Decision Making?

Each webinar adheres to the ABSTRACT tradition of providing interesting, stimulating and engaging content, delivered with artistry and panache.

Face to face delivery will ultimately return, and continue to be the optimum way to achieve behavioural change, of course. But our virtual and blended solutions have been given an unexpected opportunity to evolve, and will prove to offer several advantages for many businesses, such as:

• Reduced attendance and travel costs.
• Removal of geographical, logistical and travel boundaries for clients and delegates (and for facilitators of course).
• Support a better work life balance through reducing time on the road, which decreases disruption to family and personal time.
• Interactive tools like whiteboards, polls, videos and chat are capable of engaging participants, and this interactivity will rapidly increase as innovation and skills develop.

World events have nudged our virtual and blended solutions into the limelight, and they have proven extremely effective. We believe these programmes will continue to be called for well into the ‘new normal’ and long after things have adjusted beyond the current crisis. And we are excited to develop and generate new and innovative learning solutions to meet this demand.
