Lions trek for Doddie Weir

Hana Dickinson

Andy Nicol, CEO of ABSTRACT, will be trekking 30 miles in aid of his friend and former teammate Doddie Weir OBE - one of rugby’s most recognisable personalities.

In June 2017, Doddie revealed he was suffering from Motor Neurone Disease. From the outset, Doddie has helped fellow sufferers and sought ways to further research into this, as yet, incurable disease. In under 3 years the foundation has committed an amazing total of over £5m to MND research

Andy says "Doddie's story has touched the rugby world. And to have done it with a smile never far from his lips, and humour punctuating every call to action, Doddie does inspire".

The 30-mile trek, will see Andy and fellow ex-British & Irish Lions players, walking across the spectacular Scottish borders from Galashiels to BT Murrayfield in Edinburgh, arriving the night before the Lions v Japan game, to deliver the match ball.

This challenge will take place on 25th June 2021, and you can be a part of it by donating to Andy’s fundraising page here

Alternatively you can support using the hashtag #weirtogether or make a donation to My Name'5 Doddie Foundation.
