IWD 2022: 'Breaking the bias'
Nick Goddard
The campaign theme for International Woman’s Day (IWD) this year is ‘Break the bias.’ As you can imagine, this is something that very much resonates with what we strive for here at ABSTRACT. After all, the work we’ve done to help organisations embrace a gender equal landscape, one where differences of all kinds are valued and celebrated, is something we’re passionate about. And working to remove those conscious and unconscious biases that are often ingrained into industries, and organisations, is one of the most valuable contributions we believe we’ve made towards creating a positive future.
We’ll be holding our own event that week, hosted by Sue Liburd MBE and Andy Nicol. Join us and be inspired by Sue’s fresh perspectives from her ‘Bag of Aspirations’ on how we can reimagine and change our relationship with bias to create a more gender-equal and inclusive world.
Also that week, our team will be at large, sharing their expertise through various IWD themed lectures, seminars and web events:
- ABSTRACT founder and MD, David Nikolich, is a panel guest on the Chartered Banker Institute’s ‘Break the Bias’ webcast, alongside several other industry experts. Expect David and others on the panel to highlight voices in the field, and discuss ways the financial sector will benefit from a diverse and equal future.
- Anne Clarke will present a themed webinar, focussing on personal brand and profile, for the Women at Tesco Bank Network. Anyone who has attended one of Anne’s lively and engaging ABSTRACT seminars will know this is an event not to be missed.
- Sarah Furness will be hosting an IWD panel event for Sopra Steria.
- Sue Liburd will also be drawing from her ‘Bag of Aspirations’ at the University of Lincoln on March 8th, offering her inspirational perspective, actionable insights and ideas to accelerate equality. If you’re in the area, don’t miss out. You can book your ticket here.
As we approach IWD on March 8th, we’ll share further articles and details of other events that our wider team are involved in.
There’s still work to be done.
As ever, we’re thrilled to be able to share our research and expertise with wider elements of society, and spread important ideas that are helping to empower individuals, and create a more inclusive business environment.
Of course, we’ll also be taking the time to listen, and take stock of what has improved, and where work still needs to be done.
At ABSTRACT, we improve businesses through people. And we fundamentally believe that for any business to thrive during the challenges ahead, they need diverse voices at all levels, operating in a culture that makes everyone feel their contribution is valued.
If you’re looking to address your gender pay gap, or bringing fresh perspectives to your business leaders, then we can help.
Our award-winning learning and development programmes will promote inclusive leadership, career management for women (alongside other unrepresented groups), and ensure you create a business that is equipped for today’s social objectives. Get in touch to find out more.
