Sue Liburd celebrated for her dedication to gender diversity at HERoes Awards

Nick Goddard

The team at ABSTRACT is thrilled that our inspirational NED, Sue Liburd MBE, will be included in the 'HERoes 100 Women Executives List’ for 2020.

The HERoes Women Role Model Lists showcase leaders and executives who are leading by example and driving change to increase gender diversity in the workplace. So, huge congratulations to Sue on winning this well-deserved, prestigious recognition.

Upon hearing news, Sue commented: "Role models have helped me along the way; inspiring my career path and guiding me to take bold steps to circumnavigate glass doors and glass ceilings. It’s a privilege to fulfil the role for others and to be honoured for doing so."

Through Sue’s role as Non-Executive Director at ABSTRACT, we benefit from her laser focus on the importance of diversity and inclusion and we continue to learn from and be inspired by her year after year. As part of her nomination, Sue’s influence and effective collaboration with our Board of Directors to deliver our gender equality strategy, was highly merited.

Part of Sue’s mission is to increase the number of female and minority people moving into higher positions in business. With the help of Sue’s wise counsel, 30% of delegates from ABSTRACT's ACCELERATE programme have been promoted or seconded into more senior roles, and 34% have developed wider roles and responsibilities.

Sue also serves as the National BAME and Gender Diversity Lead for NHS England Armed Forces Public Patient Voice Advisory Group. She recently curated an annual TEDx Women event in the City of Lincoln, as well as leading senior women in business forums attracting female business leaders across Europe. So, unsurprisingly, Sue stood out when she had to demonstrate her active involvement in shaping an inclusive working environment.

We congratulate Sue and fully support this opportunity to promote diverse workplace practices, alongside showcasing other inspirational role models and inspiring the next generation of leaders.
